License check is where it hangs so thats the issue. It also just happened that the next day it stopped working without reason, perhaps because something had changed (didnt update, on Fedora). I already have a Reddit account, so I'd rather not bother making an account on a French calculator enthusiast forum if I can avoid it, lol. I was able to get the newest version (5.3.2) working through wine just fine, but the license activation screen was blank. I'm just a bit lost in the documentation that I'm finding, and don't know where else I should ask. 69 Share 9. Sorry for all the weird, specific questions. To install the CX CAS OS on a non-CAS CX model, you need: A sufficiently old version of the base bootloader firmware. I'm just a bit of a hardware snob in general - I like nice tools - but my usual expertise and hobbies don't include advanced math. Maybe I should just pass this thing on, since I'm not sure when I would ever need it - it just felt like a good tool to have on hand.Even if I was able to go back to university, I still don't think I would need this thing for software engineering or computer science. 4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 7,801 ratings Search this page. And I'm also no longer in education, so for those rare times I do need a calculator, I usually reach for either of my Casio scientific calculators. I grew up with the TI-83 and 84, so in comparison to those, the nspire feels rather overwhelming. I have a TI-Nspire CX CAS Version 4.3.0.702 and I would like to update to 4.4 or 4. Is there much difference between 4.5.3 and 4.5.4? Is it implied that ndless will flash non-CAS firmwares to the CAS variant? Is there a way for it to maintain ndless between reboots, or do I just have to keep it charged and in hibernation all the time, similar to old PSP jailbreaks? Is it even worthwhile, considering I've never actually used this calculator in the time I've owned it? Update OS without updating to newest operating system. I have a few concerns about that, even if I do go through with it. But I'm unsure if I can (or even should) just upgrade from 3.1 all the way to 4.5 using ndless? Do I need to upgrade incrementally? Or is it as simple as uh, I think upgrading the firmware to 4.5.x from TI, then dropping the relevant ndless. From what I can tell, there aren't any massive new features, but unit conversion would be nice (4.5, evidently). I admittedly don't really have any reason to, but it just popped in mind that I might see if there are any major updates. Currently installed is firmware 3.1.0.392. I don't remember exactly when I bought it (on eBay from a Texas school district), but I think shortly after, I upgraded it to the CAS-capable firmware, possibly using nlaunch as there's already an empty folder with that name. Hi there, I've got a school surplus nspire CX that I'm curious about upgrading.
